Spassherz Poppenhausen
EUDRES international boot camp community hub and interactive village map
// Project Documentation & Site Photos
Project Overview
Spassherz Poppenhausen was developed during an international European University (EUDRES) Boot Camp hosted with Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Our team worked directly with the municipality of Poppenhausen am Wasserkuppe (Germany) to reimagine a vacant community building and warehouse quarter into a multigenerational village center.
Technical Implementation
1. Interactive 3D Spatial Walkthrough (Three.js)
The platform integrates an interactive 3D model of the revived site. Users can orbit the building, inspect floor-by-floor community spaces (“Zum Adler”), and click mobile-friendly interactive hotspots to view planned activities.
2. Lightweight Single-Page Architecture
Built without heavy framework dependencies, the site utilizes vanilla ES6 JavaScript modules, custom CSS Grid layouts, and responsive tab routing. This ensures fast load times across low-bandwidth rural mobile connections.
3. Design Thinking Process
The project followed a structured four-stage design thinking methodology:
- Empathy & Interviews: Conducted structured interviews with Poppenhausen residents and local business owners.
- Problem Definition: Identified community isolation and lack of centralized activity scheduling as primary pain points.
- Prototyping: Iterated responsive interface prototypes based on feedback from older residents.
- Stakeholder Presentation: Pitched the functional platform and physical revival roadmap to municipal leaders.
